Spiral Lamp

This spiral form is made with a bent ply lamination technique. The core is composed of five layers of Norwegian birch ply and the faces are sapele. LED light strip is hardwired with on/off toggle switch. The artist found a unique plywood made for the lightweight aircraft industry. This plywood is 1/32" thick and consists of three layers within that 1/32". The artist applies a coat of plastic resin glue between every layer, wraps that around the mold and vacuum forms the spiral.
