To create this stunning piece, the artist assembles dozens of small, precisely cut maple blocks into a rough shape, then turns it on a lathe to form an intriguing sculpture of great size and bold impact. The surface is dyed, then finished with a high gloss lacquer for a shimmering luminosity and richness of color rarely seen in wood.
