Hawaiian Koa Bridge Console Table with Black Legs
Wood Console Table
Created by

This piece employs mortise and tenon joints which are pegged with birch. The legs are double tapered using a table saw, sleigh guide, jointer, and sander. The inner frame is joined with mortise and tenon joints using power- and Japanese-hand saws. The legs protrude through the top in a way similar to craftsman-style furniture. It also resembles the gem-holding prongs on a ring. The joints are hand cut slightly wide to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction. The top is finished with a catalyzed conversion varnish that is water and alcohol proof.
