Black Walnut Bridge Console Table
Wood Console Table
Created by
Tony Casper
This piece employs mortise and tenon joints which are pegged with birch. The legs are double tapered using a table saw, sleigh guide, jointer, and sander. The inner frame is joined with mortise and tenon joints using power- and Japanese-hand saws.
The legs protrude through the top in a way similar to craftsman-style furniture. It also resembles the gem-holding prongs on a ring. The joints are hand cut slightly wide to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction
The top is finished with a catalyzed conversion varnish that is water and alcohol proof.
