Intersecting geometric shapes build upon one another to create new patterns on this lightweight, painted gourd vessel; the gourd is first dried and opened, the seeds are then removed before the "canvas" is primed, lavished with acrylic paint, and finished with a protective matte varnish. The hard-edge shapes are executed in bright, pure colors, giving the work a modern feel. Perfectly sized to sit on a shelf or desk, it reveals a different combination of patterns on each side.
