Floral Fling
Giclee Print

With an wild swing of color, "Floral Fling" is exuberant. It was created in the monotype technique, which means 'one of a kind print'. Thinning the oils and painting on smooth plexiglass allows the artist to combine the vibrancy of an oil painting with the flow and blend of a watercolor. There is a spontaneity and grace to this technique that I find in no other medium. As the brush quickly moves across the smooth surface it deposits the intense pigment in broad strokes. The image is then, under pressure, transferred to the paper, for a single only print. This giclee reproduction technique catches all the brightness and nuances of the original monotype. The artist often adds color pencil work and metallic highlights to the final giclee, which is printed on fine art paper with archival inks.
