Horsehair Raku Pottery I
Ceramic Vessel
Created by
Lance Timco
This wheel-thrown ceramic vessel showcases the rich, earthy effects of the Raku and horsehair firing techniques. The surface is not glazed; rather, the piece is covered in several layers of terra sigillata and hand polished to a smooth finish. The artist applies places real horsehair on the surface, which leave fascinating marks when the piece is fired. Signed on bottom. Each piece is unique and will vary. For decorative use only. Raku pieces are porous and are not suitable for holding water.
