Cambre Vase Blue

Hand pieced from slabs of stoneware clay, this linear vessel was first fired in an electric kiln and then custom glazed before being fired in a wood heat noborigama kiln.

During the second firing, wood ash in the atmosphere of the kiln fell on the surface, creating textures and rivulets of ash that flowed down the side of the vase. This piece has particularly intense indigo-colored drips from the cobalt in the glaze interacting with the wood ash in the kiln. Watertight and may be used for flowers.
