Blue Arc
Art Glass Sculpture
Created by
Varda Avnisan
Two kiln-formed glass arcs create a freestanding sculpture full of color and light. The arcs sit on a base and can be arranged in various ways.
The artist uses glass much like a quilter uses fabric. She first creates a glass ''canvas'' by fusing various pieces of glass together. Once it is fired and cooled, this glass ''canvas'' is cut into strips and laid out in the desired composition. The artist then fuses the glass strips in a kiln and cuts and slumps the pieces into their final shape.
Each piece is unique; colors, patterns, and size will vary.
