Bauhaus Foglio
Art Glass Sculpture
Created by
David Patchen
Bold and vibrant, this blown glass vase is created using the demanding cane technique. Patchen composes hundreds of rods of colored glass into a mosaic, fuses them, rolls them onto a blowpipe, then begins the blowing process. This Foglio is composed of dozens of colors which, at first glance appear random, although the composition is actually carefully curated and intentionally designed. Patchen's Foglio series works all have a flattened profile and are double or triple encased in clear glass for great depth, optics, and stability. As each piece is handmade, patterns will vary. Museum Wax is recommended if added security is desired.
