Gold Leaf Heart

This gold leaf heart is a muti-layered, hand blown piece using a very dark amethyst glass center. The next step requires a careful application of a layer of gold leaf to allow for the movement of the molten glass to interact with the gold to create the delicate lacy pattern. The piece is then dipped into the crucible of molten liquid glass, completely encasing it. The piece is shaped into a heart, and after allowing to cool to 1000 degrees, it is placed into an oven to cool to room temperature overnight.
