Christine Triebert

Rock River Studio

"I design unique home accessories using my photographic imagery as source material. Custom lampshades made from my photo archives are paired with handcrafted wooden bases to create a contemporary line of table lamps with a clean structural simplicity."

After many years as a fine art photographer, Christine Triebert has amassed an archive of still life and botanical images which are well suited to the art of lampshade-making. The process of drafting, printing, and handmaking each shade provides an opportunity to take a two-dimensional photograph and reconstruct it as three-dimensional functional object.

Lampshade designs are custom printed on archival cotton etching paper. Each piece is cut and fitted by hand, varnished, and signed by the artist. Shades are paired with hardwood bases handcrafted in Vermont, available in maple, walnut, cherry, poplar, birch, and black milk paint finish.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Boston, designer/photographer Christine Triebert moved to Vermont in 1990 to open her own business, Rock River Studio. Her work has been licensed by major publishers, exhibited in numerous galleries and shows, and acquired by collectors including Polo Ralph Lauren and Bank of America. Chris launched her home design product line in 2019.
