Palm Sunday

"I believe that our hands are our most sacred tools, as they craft our reams into reality and signal our emotions into gestures. We should therefore choose with intention what we place on our palms as rings can become our most personal of possessions, rarely removed from our person."

Palm Sunday jewelry encourages collectors to build their own “golden altar,” made of rings that stack like the arches of sacred architecture. Each piece is carefully designed to fit together in order to make choosing and wearing fine jewelry not only easy, but personally significant.

Lauren utilizes two techniques to create the architectural pieces her work is known for: fabrication and casting. Fabricated pieces are hand made soldering together gold sheet and wire. Her cast pieces are first carved out of wax and take on a more sculptural form, which is then molded and cast in gold. She only uses responsibly sourced gemstones from a small group of trusted dealers in her work.

After receiving her BFA in fashion design from Parsons School of Design, Lauren worked as a fashion designer for three years before she left the fashion industry to become an elementary and middle school art teacher. It was during her time teaching that she took weekend metalsmithing courses where she learned the basics of soldering and stone setting. She furthered her stone setting skills at New Approach School for Jewelers.
