Carlie Ring

Morgan Patricia Designs

"The ocean is my muse and caring for it is my passion. My goal is to bring out the sea-inspired joy, love, and light I see within my clients, and co-creating a piece of vibrant jewelry that holds so much meaning and connection is what moves me most."

Known for her tiny wearable sculptures that escape reality and float in an ethereal world of sea life, seashells, and mermaids, Carlie believes in designing fine jewelry you can live in—small sculpted pieces of paradise to be loved and meant for any occasion. Her line of organic, handcrafted jewelry is endlessly inspired by growing up on the sunny beaches of New Jersey, South Florida, cliffside beaches in Southern California, and dreams of faraway tropical lands.

Carlie’s designs are often inspired by what she sees in her collection of unique opals and colorful gemstones. After creating a rough sketch around a gemstone, she uses a hot-wax pen and a meltable wax to build up the initial shape of the design. An assortment of dental tools are then used to carve away and fine tune the details before it is cast into 14k yellow gold through the ancient technique of lost wax casting. As each piece is handcrafted by Carlie, no two pieces will be exactly alike.

Carlie’s training began with a jewelry making class in her high school where she first learned the basics of metal fabrication, wax carving, and lost wax casting from a teacher who was a part-time bench worker in NYC. After college graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2007 and dedicated herself to honing her skills through a range of jobs in the jewelry industry, humbling herself with trial and error, and continues her passion for learning by sharing studio space and skillsets with the most gracious of jeweler friends.
