Erica Zap
"I aim to design contemporary looks that expose beauty through simplicity of form. My jewelry reflects the integration of past and present cultures. I use metals, stones, textures, shapes, and colors to create precious pieces that are as individual as the women who wear them.
"
Jewelry designer Erica Zap has been surrounded by art and craft all of her life. Her parents owned an international handcraft shop that sold artwork collected from their extensive travels around the world. This early exposure to exotic art and culture has greatly influenced her work.
Each of Zap's designs starts with brass shapes and forms that are electroplated in a variety of metals. These elements are then combined with carved and cast toggles or magnetic clasps.
Erica Zap graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a BFA in gold- and silversmithing.
