David J. Benyosef
"The journey is in the process. I love what I do."
David J. Benyosef was born in 1986 and raised on the Lower East Side of New York City. While attending college, he discovered a passion for glass. Benyosef is drawn to the immediacy and physicality of the medium, the teamwork involved in the process, and of course, the fire.
The artist uses an array of Venetian glassworking techniques, which have been passed down for generations from master to apprentice.
Benyosef studied glass at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire. Upon graduating, the artist continued his education at the Corning Museum of Glass, where he studied with world-renowned glass makers. In 2014, Benyosef was asked to be one of two head gaffers at the Pilchuck Glass School in the making of the auction centerpieces.
