Cheri Dunnigan

"I am decidedly low tech in my approach to my craft. I choose to employ traditional time-honored techniques. For me, there are no shortcuts."

As a designer/craftsman, Cheri seeks to honor the sensibilities of tradition while embracing contemporary forms; pushing the boundaries of technique within the confines of proper function in order to create exquisite treasures of timeless beauty.

Cheri Dunnigan carefully fabricates each of her pieces in her studio using combinations of gold, silver, pearls, gemstones, and exotic woods. . Her pieces begin with an idea, which then continues as a conversation with the materials, guided by the process. It is a delicate balancing act between what the materials want to do naturally, and how much of her own will must be imposed in order to bring her ideas to life.

Cheri Dunnigan was born and raised outside of Boston, Massachusetts. She made her first pieces of jewelry in high school and studied at the DeCordova Museum. She went on to study with John Paul Miller at the Cleveland Institute of Art where she completed a five year Bachelor of Fine Arts in Silversmithing in 1978. For Cheri, creating is a passionate pursuit and it has been a lifelong endeavor. Cheri maintains and operates her studio in Naples, Florida.
