Twilight Village
Linocut Print
Created by
William Hays
This linocut print is printed in an edition of 100. Printed with oil based, fine art printmaking inks on Stonehenge 100 percent rag paper. Titled, numbered, and signed in pencil below the image area. The Connecticut River runs through the artist's hometown in Vermont, freezing over each winter. The last glow of the winter day offers a range of possibilities, presenting a different palette of color each evening. His choice of the yellow-green for the sky was influenced by the New England artist, Maxfield Parrish, who lived just north of his home. The bluffs bordering the river offer views over the frozen ribbon and down onto the lights of town settled along the riparian course.
