Part of the artist's "musicians" suite, this bronze sculpture explores the strong relationship between a musician and her instrument. Both the cello and the figure are abstracted using geometric planes to express their rhythm and elegance. This cello player was modeled after a live musician playing at the artist's studio, who described some of her own techniques and musical experiences to the artist.

The mood in this sculpture is one of concentration and immersion in the music, something that the artist became familiar with at concerts and by delving into classical music sources. She explored the varying sizes and shapes of stringed instruments, as well as their sounds and the skills needed to coax music from them. This exploration inspired her series of musician sculptures.

"My figurative bronze sculpture is an exploration of the relationship between the soft lines of the figure and the sharp architectural lines of the stand which serves as an environment for the figure. I strive to express a fluid and open movement in space."

Artist and sculptor Dina Angel-Wing creates three-dimensional art in various media, currently focusing on bronze and steel. Pieces range from figurative to abstract to interpretive. Many of her sculptures incorporate a sense of the fluid sensuality in the human figure. This is juxtaposed against angular pedestals that complement the primary piece by giving it a contextual contrast. The Dream Series explores a contemplative mood by further abstracting the figure using geometric planes and contained movement.
